stopping to smell the roses

one of the very important parts of transforming oneself is to stop and smell the roses every once in a while.  why bother going out and making change if you're not going to enjoy the rewards you reap!  for instance a man that has decided to get into better physical shape cannot keep himself locked in the gym.  what's the point in winning if you don't celebreate?

what wins have i been celebrating?  first, i really enjoy sliding in and out of my pants without having to unsnap them (LOL).  the good news is that i fit into a pair of 32 waist pants this afternoon; on the flip side, looking around the store there are not a whole lot of options or dress slacks if you are a 32 waist (or worse yet, a 30).  the other irony is i now get to go shopping again, and replacing all the perfectly good pants (34's,36's, and even a couple 38's) that i had bought recently.  funny thought just popping into my head, wish i had saved all those clothes from the 80's since i'm sure they're SUPER-COOL now!  ha ha

secondly, life gets good when you live it without the fuzzy head.  life is not only a lot more fun with clarity of thought, but it is also so REAL!  i have found the last five monthes i have actually begun to be the leader at work that my employees deserve.  i'm still not built to walk into work shouting orders, instructions, and ultimatums.  that is just not in my dna.  but, i'm also better equipped, faculty-wise, to open my eyes, slow down, and see what needs to be fixed.  this directly leads to my third victory that i am currently celebrating...

that would be, i am enjoying watching the money trickle into my account and staying there.  yes, eating healthy does cost a lot at the grocery store.  actually taking care of the little things (and some a little bit bigger) cost money.  but at the end of the day doing things the right way, the nutritional way, is still cheaper than the crap that i pissed my money away on (is Coor's Brewery still in business, btw?).  and then, thanks in art to corporate decision-making, but mostly due to the clear head that i operate with now; i am celebrating a nice tidy sum of bonus cash with my assistant managers.

finally, unexpectedly but quite nicely, the compliments and some of the looks i'm getting more and more, are quite nice..(blushing)  don't think we'll get to much into this, but seriously; if i didn't want to be noticed, i would have never resolved to transform.

all that being said, what celebrations are you celebrating?  when is the last time you stopped to smell the roses?
